I come to my space to do many things. It is not really my space.
It belongs to God. It is creation, and I am within it.
I was born and raised in Texas. I received her BFA from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas where I received a superior award in fine arts and was also honored to serve as a teaching assistant as an undergraduate. While in college I studied drawing abroad at University College, Oxford, England. I also studied summers at the Fort Burgwin Research Center in Taos, New Mexico.
Beginning at an early age, I was molested and abused. By the age of six I began to abuse myself, and continued in self-destruction on into adulthood, until I was willing to heal spiritually and commit to life. From an early age, writing and drawing served to help me ask questions and seek answers deep within. I have fallen in love with life and attempt to share my gifts as I believe that through action and example change is inevitable.
From 1996-2000 I participated and mentored in the Recognition for Artists Program (RAP). I worked with individuals that live with psychiatric illness, and they used art as a means to learn to balance life and to foster the possibility of a life in art. The program taught, created, and exhibited art throughout the Dallas Metropolitan area. During this time I began to teach both kids and adults in a variety of environments.
In 2001, I moved to Idaho and found the community there laid back. My work is currently held in two permanent collections. My art has been exhibited and honored throughout the United States including Texas, New Mexico, Idaho, Washington, and Alaska. It is held in two permanent collections.
From 2008-2010 I served as the Artist in Residence at Grace Episcopal Church. Also in 2008 I married my best friend and became a step-mom. As a wife and mom, I have never known such happiness. Recently I launched a web-based forum for those interested in using creative processes for positive change. I am now a Resident Artist at the new Hasbrouck House Gallery in Nampa, Idaho. Today, I continue to work in my studio toward my goals in advocacy and art.
